CURRENT PROGRAMS 1. The Generic WHNP: Receives MS Degree (Major in Nursing); eligible to take the WHNP certificate examination and apply for licensure as a WHNP. 2. The Master’s Completion WHNP: Receives MS Degree (Major in Nursing); For certified WHNP who have completed the WHNP program at UTSW. 21hrs credit for course work completed at UTSW. 3. The Post-Master’s Certificate: For MS Student w/major in Nursing. Takes WHNP Clinical courses. Eligible for WHNP Exam and Licensure. 4. Master of Science with a major in Nursing Education, Clinical focus in Women’s Health: A student who is an RN with a Bachelor’s Degree may major in nursing education, with the clinical focus of this course being Women’s Health. In this instance the student would complete the courses needed for the major in Nursing Education and the last two Women’s Health Clinical Courses. CLASSES All Women’s Health classes are held on Saturday. They are every other Saturday in the spring and the fall. Classes are every Saturday during the summer session. (note: Students have options of attending classroom lectures, using on-line video lectures & presentations, DVD video lectures and presentations or any combination of these.) SEQUENCE OF WHNP COURSES 1. Women’s Health I is taught in the spring semester. The focus of this course is on menses, contraception and pregnancy. 2. Women’s Health II is taught in the summer session. The focus is gynecology. 3. Women’s Health III is taught in the fall session. The focus of this course is primary care in women, chronic disease in women, and aging. LEARNING RESOURCES 1. Blackboard, Course CD with PPT Presentations, Hand Outs & Skills Videos. 2. Women’s Health Web Site; Videos of all Classroom Lectures including PPT presentatons available online at all times. 3.
